Discover Copper Bay Lodge

The outfitter

Nestled along the Hecate Strait south of Sandspit, Copper Bay Lodge offers an intimate fly-fishing experience in the Haida Gwaii archipelago. This cozy 2,000-square-foot lodge features four private bedrooms, two shared bathrooms, and a comfortable lounge with a fireplace. From January to April, anglers pursue wild steelhead along small coastal rivers lined with old-growth forests. After guided days exploring these unique waterways, gather at the lodge to enjoy delicious, carefully prepared meals right by the beach.

Territory and geography

Established facing the Hecate Strait, the estate is part of the Haida Gwaii archipelago, nicknamed the "Galápagos of the North" for its unique biodiversity. This wild island territory comprises approximately 350 islands bordered by the Pacific Ocean and dominated by ancient, centuries-old forests. The landscape is characterized by small coastal rivers where wild steelhead run in a completely preserved environment. The geographical isolation of these coastal islands offers an exceptional fishing setting, near Gwaii Haanas Park and lightly pressured waterways like the Yakoun River.
