Terms of use

Updated on August 24, 2026

Simple rules, written to be understood: what we do, what you can expect from us, and how exchanges between a guest and an outfitter work.

Contact details never revealedExchanges kept and verifiableIndependent outfitters

Our role

MyOutfitters.ca is a Canadian platform for discovering and booking outfitter stays. The outfitters listed are independent businesses: they remain solely responsible for their facilities, rates, availability, required licences and the stay itself.

By using the site, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the platform.

Private messaging: all communication goes through the platform

Exchanges between a guest and an outfitter take place exclusively through our private messaging. Each conversation gets a unique, anonymous reply address: simply reply to the email you received. Your email address and phone number are never revealed to the other party.

This rule protects both parties: it prevents spam, keeps a complete and verifiable record of every exchange, and lets our team step in if a disagreement arises.

  • Messages are scanned automatically — by text rules, then by an artificial-intelligence model provided by Google (Gemini) — to remove direct contact details (phone number, email address, external link, third-party messenger). Anything detected is masked before the message is relayed.
  • A clear attempt to bypass the platform — deliberately disguised contact details, an invitation to continue elsewhere — results in the message being held for human review, a reminder of the rules, and account suspension if repeated.
  • This filtering may delay a message or mask part of it. You can always request human intervention, be told the reasons for the decision and ask for a review by writing to support@myoutfitters.ca.
  • Full contact details are shared automatically as soon as a booking is confirmed: that is when the outfitter and the guest genuinely need to reach each other directly.
  • Attachments are limited to ordinary photos and documents of up to 10 MB. Executable files and contact cards (.vcf) are refused before a booking is confirmed.
  • Message content is encrypted at rest. Only authorized staff can access it, solely for moderation, support or dispute resolution, and every access is logged. When a message is held, our support team receives its content in the clear for that sole purpose.

Expected conduct

You agree to provide accurate information, to send only genuine requests and to treat the other party with respect. The following are prohibited: harassment, hate speech, unsolicited commercial soliciting, automated scraping of site content, attempts to circumvent our security measures, and impersonation.

Requests, bookings and payments

A request is not a booking: it becomes one only when the outfitter confirms it. Displayed rates come from the outfitters and may vary with the season, the number of guests and the services chosen; applicable taxes and fees are shown before payment.

Payments are handled by an external PCI-DSS certified provider. Cancellation and refund terms are those of the outfitter and are shown before confirmation. Hunting and fishing require valid provincial licences: obtaining them is the guest's responsibility.

Reviews and published content

A review must reflect a real, first-hand experience. We refuse reviews written in exchange for compensation, reviews posted by a competitor, and reviews containing contact details or defamatory statements. By posting content (text, photo), you grant us a non-exclusive right to display it on the platform.

Liability

We do everything we can to keep listings accurate and the service available, without being able to guarantee it. Outdoor activities carry risks that the guest assumes. Our liability is limited, to the extent permitted by law, to the amounts we collected for the booking concerned.

Governing law and changes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and applicable Canadian federal laws. Any material change is published on this page with a revised update date.
