Located at the foot of the Alberta Rockies, Anchor D Guiding & Outfitting offers horseback vacations and stays in rustic log cabins. For over 35 years, the team led by Dewy Matthews has welcomed small groups of 12 to 15 people for guided rides lasting a few hours, mountain excursions, or 4 to 7-day expeditions. The site also offers guided hunts for mule deer and white-tailed deer. After a day in the saddle, visitors enjoy comfortable cabins equipped with full kitchens.
The territory covers approximately 1,200 square miles in the foothills and Rocky Mountains of Alberta, right next to the Kananaskis area. It encompasses the Sheep and Elbow River watersheds, surrounded by six mountain ranges. The area extends south and west to the Continental Divide, which marks the border between Alberta and British Columbia. This highly mountainous terrain constitutes a choice natural habitat for deer, elk, moose, and black bear.
