The outfitter

The Tunulik II fishing camp, run by Aventures Arctiques — an Inuit-owned company outfitting in Nunavik since 1969 — sits on a granite cliff overlooking the Lagrevé River, 2.4 km from Ungava Bay in Arctic Quebec (58°28' N, 66°34' W). The camp hosts only 6 to 7 anglers and operates just four weeks a year, from mid-August to mid-September, at the peak of the migration. About 16 km of river (3.2 km downstream, 11 km upstream) is reserved exclusively for guests' wade fly-fishing. Rated by Fly Fisherman magazine among the five best rivers in the world for brook trout, it

holds native and sea-run (anadromous) brook trout of about three kilos, late-season Arctic char of about nine kilos and, occasionally, Atlantic salmon. The camp follows a catch-and-release policy to protect the resource. Lodging is in three heated cabins (2 to 3 anglers each) plus a large shared cabin with kitchen, dining room, showers and flush toilets. The camp is run by the Buckle family: Carole in the kitchen and Calvin as manager and guide, alongside Inuit guides who share their knowledge of the river and of Inuit culture.
