The Marleau-Likavcanova family, captivated by the place in 2021, relaunched the Domaine Kiamika — an outfitter active since 1938 — and built a new range of activities around it. Lodging is in comfortable chalets (European plan) and refuges: Mirador on Lac Tomkin (sleeps 6, new 2023 cedar build), La Grande Ourse (sleeps 7), Les Lucioles (sleeps 2), L'Oasis on Lac Gaucher (sleeps 6) and the Lièvre et la tortue (sleeps 4), plus Le Totem, an
exclusive group campsite in the Lac Tomkin bay. On the outfitter side, you can fish for walleye (launch on the rivière du Lièvre, access to Lac Rouge and Lac Guérin) and hunt white-tailed deer and black bear in zone 10 est, on a territory part of which is exclusive, from two hunting camps (the Lac Gaucher chalet and the Chasse-Galerie chalet). Domaine Kiamika traces its origins to the Valiquette family’s settlement in the Valiette road area in Kiamika. In 1938, Lorenzo Valiquette recognized the site’s great wildlife and natural potential, bordered by the lakes and the Lièvre River, and founded the Domaine Kiamika outfitting operation. The establishment quickly became a much-loved destination for hunting and fishing, drawing many families over the decades, including American vacationers during the 1970s. His son Herman Valiquette continued to bring the place to life through the 1980s and 1990s. In the early 2000s, Marcel Paris and Manon Demers took over the management of the domain for
more than fifteen years. They modernized the site by expanding the main building, building new chalets, and setting up a large stable. In 2021, the Marleau-Likavcanova family (Elena Likavcanova and Marc-André Marleau) fell in love with this natural territory. Teaming up with the original outfitting operation, they launched Escapade Kiamika to usher in a breath of renewal: major investments in infrastructure, the creation of hiking trails, and the development of culture and water-based activities across four seasons—while preserving the tradition of hunting and fishing on this gem of the Hautes-Laurentides.
The Escapade Kiamika estate is located in Kiamika, in the heart of the Laurentides region. The site’s layout lets you fully make the most of a wild environment ideal for relaxation, nature getaways, and water-based leisure. The Pourvoirie Escapade Kiamika spans a natural territory of more than 200 acres characterized by rugged terrain, hills, sandy shorelines, and pristine forest sheltering abundant wildlife. Located in the Hautes-Laurentides area, within zone 10 for fishing and zone 10 for hunting, this property offers a diverse aquatic and forest network featuring several major bodies of water: the rivière du Lièvre, la rivière Kiamika, the ruisseau Mitchell, as well as three main lakes named Pépère, Tomkin and Gaucher—without forgetting the lakes Rouge and Guérin, which are accessible by the river. Anglers enjoy the area’s aquatic wildlife thanks to a variety of
species found across the different bodies of water. The rivière du Lièvre and lake Rouge are known for doré, considered the master of the waters. Lake Tomkin, a calm body of water, is home to impressive northern pike. At the top of the outfitter, lake Gaucher is a pristine mountain lake where smallmouth bass challenge sportsmen—sometimes accompanied by trout. On the land, the lush vegetation and preserved environment create a prime habitat for big game. The white-tailed deer is present throughout, especially in the lake Gaucher sector at the border of Lac-du-Cerf. In addition, the mountainous terrain accessible via the montée à Jos-Montferrand forms a particularly favorable hunting ground for black bear as well as for white-tailed deer, offering a hunting territory of which one section is exclusive.
Escape Kiamika offers a wide range of outdoor activities, hunting, fishing, and seasonal getaways. During the summer season, sport fishing takes place on the rivière du Lièvre, the Wabassee rapids, and three lakes (Tomkin, Gaucher, Pépère) to catch walleye, pike, bass, and trout. Motorized boats equipped with electric motors and batteries are available. Water sports enthusiasts can take advantage of canoe rental for singles or doubles, single or double kayaks, paddle boards (SUP), and inflatable tubes. A shuttle service allows you to take a 12 km downhill route on the rivière Kiamika to the rivière du Lièvre access site. Swimming
is also possible on sandy shorelines or private beaches. For land-based activities, more than 10 km of marked trails offer forest hiking with loops ranging from 1 to 3 hours. Cyclists can reach the property via the Petit train du Nord bike trail, or enjoy mountain biking and Fatbike on the Montée à Jos Montferrand. The site also promotes relaxation with ecotherapy sessions, yoga, meditation, and tai chi. In winter, the property becomes a four-season destination offering snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and nearby dog-sled excursions. During the fall season, hunting for black bear and Virginia deer is practiced. Propriétaire chaleureux, bel accueil, services 5 étoiles un endroit calme, chalet isolé (sans voisin), accès privé au lac (devant le chalet) parfait pour une escapade, la paix total. Nous avons pêché et fait du kayak. C'est mon endroit préféré! 🫶

Mon conjoint et moi avons adoré notre séjour de 5 nuitées chez Marc-André. Grâce à ses suggestions, nous avons découvert la région de Kiamika et ses alentours. Nous avons surtout apprécié l'approche holistique de l'hôte de par son respect de la nature et notre accueil en tant qu'invités sur son domaine. Il s'est assuré que notre séjour était des plus confortables en nous proposants des accommodements selon la température (parasol, activité de kayak/rando, etc). Le logement est très propre et confortable. Même s'il est annexé à un autre bâtiment, l'insonnorisation est tellement bien fait que nous nous croyons seuls! :) Région et domaine à découvrir! Je recommande fortement Marc-André et ses installations (il a plusieurs logements à louer). Comme nous étions 2, le chalet des lucioles était parfait!

Cet endroit est un véritable havre de paix pour les amoureux de la nature et ceux qui aspirent au calme et à la quiétude. Nous y avons passé un merveilleux week-end. Les propriétaires sont aimables et chaleureux et le chalet est très bien équipé avec une belle vue sur le lac. Vous avez l’embarras du choix pour les activités. Nous avons opté pour le canot et le kayak Nous y retournerons sans hésiter.
