The recent history of Pourvoirie du Lac Berval is marked by a passion for the outdoors and a commitment to offering a warm welcome in the heart of the Laurentians. Since 2005, the estate has been managed by Marc-André, a fishing enthusiast and market gardener from Montérégie. His vision is to make the outfitter experience accessible to all while providing comfortable accommodations. To ensure site management and guest follow-up, he has surrounded himself with a dedicated team, including Claudia, who manages administration, accounting, and communications, and Sonia, who is responsible for reservations and customer service. Over the years, the Montcalm
territory has developed through continuous infrastructure improvements. The outfitter enriched its lodging options by building "Le Rassembleur" cabin in 2022, capable of hosting large groups, followed by "L’Évasion" cabin in 2023. Site enhancements continued in 2024 with a complete renovation of the fish-cleaning station and a redesign of the lakeside common area, equipped with gazebos and an outdoor fire pit. The site also maintains a dynamic community life and many traditions. In May 2025, the establishment launched the "3lb Club," awarding an exclusive pin to anglers who succeed in catching a trout of at least 3 pounds on Lac Berval. Building on the success of their estate, Claudia and Marc-André subsequently expanded their horizons by acquiring a second establishment, Pourvoirie Légendes Des Bois (formerly Club des Douze), located in Duhamel, Outaouais.

Pourvoirie du Lac Berval is located in Montcalm, in the Laurentians region, on a natural territory situated approximately 20 minutes from Mont-Tremblant and 1 hour 15 minutes from Montreal. The aquatic heart of the estate is Lac Berval, a body of water covering 27 hectares with a maximum depth of 11 meters. This aquatic environment offers a habitat particularly well-suited for salmonids. The lake is home to two species of fish: brook trout and rainbow trout. Brook trout typically range in size from 9 to 14 inches, while rainbow trout reach sizes from 9 inches up to specimens weighing between
5 and 6 pounds. Depending on the season and water temperature, fish behavior evolves within their habitat. In the spring and fall, when the water is cool (notably below 55°F), trout circulate near the shorelines and shallow areas, taking advantage of natural structures such as submerged dead trees. During the summer heat, the fish take refuge in the deeper zones of the lake, around 20 feet (6 meters) or near the bottom. In winter, the trout remain active under the ice cover, moving primarily within the top third of the water column. The surrounding forest environment, dominated by conifers such as fir trees, as well as the lake ecosystem, house a diverse fauna ideal for nature observation throughout the seasons.
Pourvoirie du Lac Berval offers a range of outdoor activities available in every season. Sport fishing for brook and rainbow trout is the main activity. During the open-water season (spring, summer, fall), fishing is done from 14-foot fiberglass boats equipped with electric motors and batteries. Anglers can use various techniques such as spin casting, trolling, fly fishing, or jigging. A renovated fish-cleaning station with stainless steel counters is available on-site, and a possession limit of 10 trout per fishing permit applies. In winter, the establishment offers ice fishing. Anglers are transported onto the frozen lake in a sled pulled by
a snowmobile and are provided with tip-ups and jigging rods. Ice fishing huts heated by wood stoves can also be reserved on the ice. Non-fishing water activities include kayaking, pedal boating, paddleboarding, and swimming from a floating dock. On land, marked trails allow for hiking during the mild seasons and snowshoeing during the winter. Fatbiking is also offered on-site, both summer and winter, as is wildlife viewing. For corporate needs or team meetings, specialized facilities allow for the organization of training sessions, conferences, or friendly fishing tournaments. The reception area features a shop selling bait and fishing gear, as well as an equipment rental service including rods, fish finders, nets, and life jackets.

C’était notre 4e ou 5e visite à la pourvoirie et les commentaires s’appliquent à toutes nos visites. Les chalets sont chaleureux, propres et super biens équipés. Le personnel est accueillant, toujours souriant et bienveillants. Le site est toujours super propre, s’il pleut, les chaloupes vont vidées d’eau avant même que vous ayez eu le temps de sortir. Pas besoin de trainer les moteurs et batteries, la cabane d’éviscération est impeccable et tout est à votre disposition. La pourvoirie n’est pas située très loin de Montréal ce qui est encore plus agréable! Plus besoin de faire 3-4h de route pour avoir une belle qualité de pêche et un endroit de prédilection! Pour nous, c’est un rdv annuel!! Merci encore et à bientôt!
