Lake Dégelis is the main body of water at Pourvoirie Lac Dégelis, located in the heart of the Monts-Valin range in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region. Famous for its spectacular natural white sand beach extending over more than one kilometer, this sandy-bottom lake provides an exceptional setting for vacationing, swimming, and water activities such as kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, pedal boating, and boating. For fishing enthusiasts, Lake Dégelis features an exclusive population of 100% wild, native brook trout. No fish stocking is performed, preserving the natural genetic pool in accordance with Monts-Valin regulations. The sandy lakebed gives the trout meat a distinctive, highly prized almond taste. While catches typically range between 8 and 12 inches, the lake regularly yields impressive specimens up to 24 inches long and weighing between 5 and 7 pounds, with the outfitter's record reaching 11.5 pounds. Sport fishing techniques include light angling, trolling with lures (such as Toronto Wabler, Magic Mouchetée, or Lake Clear), and fly fishing (using muddler minnows, woolly buggers, or streamers). Motorboats are available for anglers, along with fish-processing facilities equipped for gutting, vacuum packaging, and freezing catches.
