The Broadback River, flowing near the camp, offers stretches reserved exclusively for brook trout fly fishing, where trophy specimens exceeding four pounds can be caught. of fish destined for mounting. The vast surrounding lake network is home to an abundant walleye population as well as northern pike frequently reaching 15 to 20 pounds. To preserve the quality of the resource, the establishment promotes the use of single barbless hooks and encourages the release of large specimens. As for accommodations, the Lake Troïlus camp hosts up to twelve guests per week, with a typical average of six people, ensuring tranquility and personalized service. Visitors are housed in wooden or log cabins that can accommodate two to four people. Each cabin is cleaned daily, equipped with electric lighting, and heated by wood or propane. Some units have their own full bathroom, while others are served by a central shower house with flush toilets. Full meals are prepared and served in the main dining room, and freezers are available for fish storage.
Square-Tail Lodge is owned and operated by Bob White, an enthusiast with a dozen years of experience as a wilderness guide, gained across a vast territory stretching from the Laurentians to James Bay and the east coast of Hudson Bay. Prompted by reports of exceptional brook trout catches and abundant walleye fishing in the Broadback River system, he decided in 1964 to create his own fishing camps. After two exploratory trips in 1964 and 1965, Bob White chose to settle on the north branch of the Broadback River. Development of the territory began in 1966 with the construction of a
first cabin on the shores of Lake Frotet, followed the same year by the building of a second cabin at Lake Troïlus. These facilities allowed the outfitter to welcome his first guests as early as the fall of 1966. Originally, access to the site was exclusively by floatplane from Chibougamau. A significant change occurred in the mid-1990s with the construction of a road by Hydro-Québec and the creation of a junction road leading to a mine north of Lake Troïlus. This land access eliminated the need for air transport while preserving the isolated character and quality of the territory's wild fishing.

The water bodies also support large populations of walleye, offering very high catch volumes, as well as northern pike, with individuals weighing between 15 and 20 pounds regularly recorded.
Square-Tail Lodge primarily offers recreational sport fishing activities adapted to different techniques and stay packages. Fly fishing enthusiasts can pursue their passion along the Broadback River and its streams. Conditions are particularly suited for wading in the rapids and pools. For conservation purposes, fishing in the rivers and streams is fly-only using single barbless hooks, and follows a catch-and-release policy for trout, with the exception of a single trophy authorized for taxidermy. Spin fishing takes place on the vast navigable waters of lakes Troïlus and Frotet to target walleye and northern pike. Catch-and-release for larger walleye and pike is encouraged
to preserve the quality of the resource. Two types of guest facilities are offered for stays. At the main lodge on Lake Troïlus, guests choose between the American Plan (including log cabin accommodation, meals in the dining room, guide services, and motorized boats with fuel) and the European Plan. For independent and experienced anglers, a remote camp consisting of two rustic cabins is available at Lake Frotet, operating without on-site staff.
