The Alberta Minister's Special License program provides opportunities for exceptional hunts throughout the province. Managed by the Alberta Professional Outfitters Society, these auctioned permits require non-resident hunters to use the services of professional outfitters. The program targets prestigious species such as Bighorn sheep, mule deer, and moose, with expeditions available by tent, canoe, horseback, or ATV. Funds raised directly support the conservation and management of Alberta's wildlife.

The hunting territory extends across several regions of Alberta, including the Rocky Mountains, prairie zones, and the southwest of the province. The terrain varies between steep mountainous environments, river basins, and open spaces. Depending on the sector and the type of stay, access to the territory is provided via fly-in tent camps, canoe expeditions on remote rivers, horseback in the mountains, or by ATV in the prairies.
