The Alberta Minister's Special Licence (MSL) program, administered by the Alberta Professional Outfitters Society (APOS), offers auction-based hunting opportunities for residents and non-residents. These permits allow hunting for Bighorn Sheep, Moose, or Mule Deer throughout the province where seasons are open, with great flexibility in dates and weapon choices. For non-residents, the use of an outfitter is mandatory. Funds raised through these sales directly support wildlife conservation and management projects in Alberta.

Hunting activities take place according to the target species in the Rocky Mountain ranges, along remote rivers, or in the heart of the province's vast prairies, particularly in the southwest sector.
