I went fishing with Steve. We fished for halibut and I ended up catching a 16 kg lingcod, a new record at the fish board. It was huge, so Steve made sure it was dead before I picked it up to keep it from biting or hurting me. He made sure we were all safe and his lodge is beautiful.

We are three female friends and we just got back from a 5 night/4 day trip with Hook'n them up out of Port Hardy. We all reached our limits for salmon and halibut, as well as a few lingcod and a bass. The scenery and wildlife were beautiful. Our experienced guides taught us so much about the region. The North Island is truly splendid. It's true, as they say, these guys take you to where the fish are. Unfortunately, our guide fell ill right before our arrival, but fortunately Jason, a friend of Steve's, filled in and was ready to go with us! We all reached our limits! Steve and his mother made us a nice hot sandwich for breakfast and an excellent full lunch. Thank you to your family and friends for this unforgettable experience!

We spent a day fishing with Steven in June 2025, during a trip to Vancouver Island from New Zealand. Judging by the worried radio chatter, fishing was pretty quiet. But after changing spots, Steven got us to our quota of nice Chinook salmon, then we fished for halibut and lingcod in the afternoon. A superb outing with beautiful scenery and many wildlife sightings, including Minke whales, sea otters, and a wolf on a beach. An excellent day out on the water with a knowledgeable and friendly skipper. Highly recommend.

I come back every year. Steve from Hook'n Them Up Fishing Charters always gets me onto great catches. He treats me and my guests like family. His boat is large and fast, and he has a lot of experience. He now operates out of Bear Cove Marina and Port McNeill, as well as Quatsino Sound. I can't wait to come back and try his Rivers Inlet trip. A big thanks to Paul (Steve's father) for his invaluable help as a guide, Sharon (his mother) for her excellent meals, and Lily (his daughter) for her help with fish prep. Their accommodation is very comfortable and feels just like home. Steve and his family really know how to host their guests.
