Good to know
Monde Sauvage is a non-exclusive outfitting operation in Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, Gaspésie, in hunting and fishing zone 1. Registered with Québec's tourism registry (no. 850690), the establishment has one lodge and is open year-round. On site: freezer and ice, battery charging.
The history of the establishments under the Monde Sauvage banner took root in the 19th century and flourished throughout the 20th century in the heart of Gaspésie. In Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, Auberge Château Lamontagne rises atop Cap des Groseilliers, overlooking the St. Lawrence River. This Regency-style building was constructed in 1874 by Théodore-Jean Lamontagne, a prominent local businessman. Quickly nicknamed "Château Lamontagne" by local residents due to its prestige, this heritage home has been fully renovated over the years to preserve its character while adding modern cabins to the site. At Pourvoirie Falls Gully, the adventure dates back to the late 1940s.
American anglers visiting the Bonaventure River landed their floatplanes on Grand Lac Robidoux, which at the time had no road access. Charmed by the wild beauty of the location, they returned to fish the surrounding lakes and Sector C of the Bonaventure River. In 1952, a private club was founded under the name Falls Gully, inspired by the magnificent waterfalls on the territory. Following the abolition of private clubs during the 1970s, the territory was renamed Pourvoirie des Lacs Robidoux and saw a succession of owners. In January 2013, three developers passionate about hunting and fishing took over, reclaiming the historic name Pourvoirie Falls Gully to reconnect with its origins. Today, Monde Sauvage brings together these exceptional heritage and natural destinations between the sea and the mountains of Gaspésie.
Located in Sainte-Anne-des-Monts, Gaspésie, Monde Sauvage operates territories defined by a backdrop where the sea and mountains meet. The northern section centers around Auberge Château Lamontagne, built atop a cliff overlooking the sea, with cottages located directly on the coastline. This coastal sector sits on the migration paths of American woodcock, sea ducks, and Atlantic salmon. To the south, the territory extends into the heart of the forest at the Falls Gully outfitter, located on the shores of the Great Robidoux Lake. Main access is by land at 170, 1re Avenue Est.
The territory operated by Monde Sauvage extends across an exceptional northern environment in Gaspésie, characterized by a spectacular landscape where the sea meets the Chic-Choc Mountains. The estate is located directly within a natural migration corridor connecting the Sainte-Anne and Grande Cascapédia rivers, allowing wildlife to cross the Chic-Choc massif toward Baie-des-Chaleurs. Bordering Gaspésie National Park and the Chic-Chocs Wildlife Reserve, the territories benefit from the natural overflow of these protected zones, ensuring a high density of moose. In the highlands of Haute-Gaspésie, the tundra and forest cuts rich in wild berries also support a significant black bear population. The
aquatic environments consist of renowned crystal-clear rivers and bodies of water dedicated to fishing. Grand Lac Robidoux, stretching two kilometers long, is fed by remarkably clear underground springs. This lake is home to a population of indigenous brook trout (speckled trout) known for its fighting spirit. Meanwhile, Petit Lac Robidoux is restocked annually to ensure consistent catches. The Bonaventure, Cascapédia, Sainte-Anne, and Cap-Chat rivers host the summer migration of Atlantic salmon into fresh water, allowing for sight-fishing in translucent waters. Along the coast and the St. Lawrence River, the cold waters host striped bass, the result of successful reintroduction programs. Local forest biotopes, managed through cover rotation, offer prime habitat for the woodcock's "roding" and the migration of American woodcock. Furthermore, the coastal strip serves as a route for sea duck migrations moving south.
Monde Sauvage offers a diverse range of activities focused on hunting, fishing, the outdoors, and gastronomy in Gaspésie. Sport fishing enthusiasts enjoy exclusive access to Grand Lac Robidoux and Petit Lac Robidoux to catch brook trout from equipped motorboats, available for day trips or overnight stays. Atlantic salmon fishing is conducted with fly gear, either by wading or by canoe, on rivers such as the Bonaventure, Cascapédia, Sainte-Anne, and Cap-Chat, accompanied by experienced guides. In saltwater, guided outings are organized for striped bass fishing along the Gaspé coast. The estate organizes hunting trips led by professional guides. American woodcock hunting
is carried out in managed covers with Braque, Korthals Griffon, or Pudelpointer pointing dogs. Moose hunting is practiced from stands or by stalking (still hunting) near protected areas, while black bear hunting takes place in the spring at baited sites. During the winter season, visitors can enjoy guided off-piste snowmobile excursions in the Chic-Choc massif or snowshoe hikes with snowcat transport to the summits. In summer, Jeep safaris allow guests to explore Haute-Gaspésie at altitudes up to 3,000 feet. The outfitter also offers an 18-hole golf package in partnership with Club de golf le Gaspésien, as well as an immersive maple syrup experience at the Septentrion sugar shack in Anse Pleureuse. Stays feature accommodation at Auberge Château Lamontagne or in cabins, complemented by a bistronomic dining experience.
