Founded in 2014, Port Hardy Bait Shack Charters is a family-owned business dedicated to sport fishing in northern Vancouver Island. Black Gum Charters guides accompany anglers at sea to target Chinook salmon, halibut, lingcod, and rockfish. The establishment also houses a tackle shop offering rods, reels, lures, and bait. Open from June 1st to September 1st, from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Bear Cove boat launch, this center offers comprehensive support and specialized gear for your coastal fishing trips.

Established in northern Vancouver Island, the fishing territory extends across British Columbia's Tidal Area 12, covering the Port Hardy and Robson Bight sectors. The environment includes bays, inlets, and rivers, notably Hardy Bay, Port Hardy Harbor, Holberg Inlet, Neroutsos Inlet, and the Quatse River. This coastal maritime environment allows for deep-sea fishing as well as fishing in sheltered inlets, offering access to various sport fishing zones along the coastline.
