Club de chasse et pêche Stramond is a small exclusive-rights outfitter in the northern Outaouais, set on the shores of Lac des Augustines in hunting zone 14. Its 111 km² exclusive territory — mountains, marshes, lakes and forest — is fished for walleye, lake trout and northern pike, and hunted for moose across sectors of about 10 km² each with their own maintained trails, or for small game (spruce grouse, ruffed grouse and hare). At the very beginning, Stramond Lake Lodge belonged to Paul Frontz, a resident of Pennsylvania. In 1982, the exclusive-rights outfitting operation was acquired by Austin and Madeleine Gagnon, who set out to manage the land and waterways in a healthy, rigorous way to ensure the venture’s success. In 2007, the couple retired and handed the torch to Renée Latour. Raised in an agricultural setting and trained in agriculture, the new owner focused the development of the lodge on respecting natural rhythms, preserving wildlife, and putting in place eco-responsible practices, including releasing large specimens back into the water. Stramond Fishing and Hunting Club offers European plan stays focused on sport fishing, hunting, and outdoor living. Fishing takes place on Lac des Augustines and remote lakes for catching walleye, lake trout, and northern pike. Guests have 16-foot boats on the main lake and 14-foot boats on the remote lakes, with the possibility of using outboard motors. Bathymetric maps are provided to help locate depths.
