well-equipped chalets (electricity, propane stove, hot water, indoor shower and toilet, bedding and dishes provided) and remote hunting-and-fishing camps deep in the forest; stays are offered on the American or European plan. A family outfitter since 1969, Le Domaine Shannon has welcomed thousands of visitors over more than 55 years.

Its story

The story of Domaine Shannon began in 1969 when Raymond and Bernise Danis decided to change their lives and acquired the outfitter, which at the time belonged to Mona Langevin. Located in the heart of the Outaouais mixed forest, the company has grown over the years around its 335-square-kilometer wilderness territory. In 1992, the second generation took over as the founders' sons, Serge and Sylvain Danis, became the owners and managers of Domaine Shannon. Under their leadership, the outfitter continued its development and the modernization of its infrastructure while preserving the family-oriented and authentic spirit of the site. For over

55 years, the Danis family has welcomed generations of anglers, hunters, and vacationers. This long tradition is illustrated by the loyalty of certain clients who have been visiting since the company's inception, such as hunter Germain Laurence, who has been coming to the outfitter for over 55 years.

Wildlife and habitat

The Domaine Shannon territory offers a mixed forest habitat characterized by dense vegetation cover near numerous lakes and wetlands. According to government aerial surveys, the outfitter is located in the area with the highest moose density in Zone 14, a favorable environment bolstered by its immediate proximity to the La Vérendrye Wildlife Reserve. Moose hunting is practiced on exclusive territories of 10 to 20 square kilometers per group. Land-based wildlife also includes a significant population of black bears, hunted at baited sites equipped with watchtowers, as well as small game such as ruffed grouse (partridge), spruce grouse, and snowshoe hare.

Northern pike frequent areas with aquatic plants and can reach over 25 pounds. Speckled trout are present in Lake Andorra, while a splake stocking program is underway in Lake Séguin.

On site
