Pavillon Wapus is a family business founded in 1967 by the Rousseau family and passed down through the generations for more than 50 years. The exclusive territory spans 272 km² of trails, lakes, rivers and forests in the Outaouais (zone 14), around Lake Mc Arthur. You can catch walleye, pike, brook trout and lake trout on a single stay, across more than 30 carefully managed lakes (catch-and-release of spawners for over 30 years); the fishing season runs from mid-May to the end of September. For hunting, Wapus offers moose on exclusive territories of about 10 km² (one moose per party,
client return rate around 90%), black bear over some fifty baited sites (success rate around 95%) and small game from mid-September (spruce grouse, ruffed grouse, hare and woodcock). Lodging is at the Central Pavilion, where ten recent four-star cabins surround Lake Christina with a heated in-ground pool, or in remote cabins on private lakes reached by floatplane. American or European plan to choose from, with guiding and fish-filleting services available. In summer, families enjoy fishing, the pool, and picking wild berries and mushrooms.
The history of Pavillon Wapus is deeply rooted in a family tradition that began in 1967, the year the current family acquired the territory. For over fifty years, this heritage has been passed down from generation to generation, blending the authenticity of stays in the wild with modern comfort. Over the decades, Pavillon Wapus has established itself as a renowned destination in the Outaouais thanks to a pioneering vision in wildlife conservation. For more than thirty years, the outfitter has applied rigorous management of its aquatic and wildlife resources. This philosophy has translated into the implementation of size limits and
adjusted quotas on its various lakes, the designation of mandatory catch-and-release zones, and the protection of spawners to maintain a healthy and abundant fish population. This rational management also extends to hunting activities. The exclusive territory is divided into distinct hunting blocks for moose and black bear, ensuring peace for users and respect for the resource. This methodical approach has paid off, as approximately 90% of moose hunters return to stay at the outfitter year after year. The outfitter's infrastructure has also evolved to meet client expectations. Today, the site includes recent 4-star rated cabins clustered around the main lodge, as well as remote cabins converted to solar energy that combine energy independence with forest immersion.
Pavillon Wapus covers an exclusive territory of 272 square kilometers located in the Outaouais region, in hunting and fishing zone 14 (topographic map 30-O/S). This property includes about thirty lakes, including lac McArthur and lac Christina. Access to the different bodies of water is by road network, by ATV trails, or by hiking trails. Boats, canoes, and motors are positioned on the lakes, and lightweight motors with backpacks are provided to reach the most remote waters. Some remote chalets located on the property are accessible by vehicle, by boat, or by seaplane. In terms of road access, the outfitter is
located 285 km from Gatineau (about 4 hours), 400 km from Montréal (5 hours), and 560 km from Québec (7 hours). The route is to take Route 117 North for 7 km inside the Réserve faunique La Vérendrye. At kilometer 288, turn right onto forest road 13E (chemin Lépine/Clova), continue on this road until kilometer 90, then turn right and drive 5 km to reach your destination.
Located in hunting and fishing zone 14 in the Outaouais, Pavillon Wapus's exclusive territory spans 272 square kilometers of forest and includes over 30 lakes as well as multiple small headwater bodies of water. This diverse environment is composed of deep aquatic habitats, streams, cutovers, and a vast network of forest trails. The outfitter's waters are home to four main fish species: walleye, northern pike, brook trout (speckled trout), and lake trout. Seven headwater lakes are specifically dedicated to brook trout fishing, while Lake McLennan notably hosts lake trout. Aquatic wildlife has been subject to conservation-based management for over 30
years, including the release of spawners, adherence to a size range for walleye, as well as mandatory catch-and-release or reduced quotas on certain lakes such as Wapus, Shierbeck, Roost, Kerrigan, Ceizur, or Patten. Regarding land wildlife, the territory is subdivided into 20 moose hunting sectors of 10 square kilometers each. The habitat is also ideal for black bear, supported by approximately 50 baited stand sites. Small game is represented by a strong presence of ruffed grouse, spruce grouse, hare, and woodcock.
Pavillon Wapus offers a range of activities centered on fishing, hunting, and the great outdoors. Multi-species fishing takes place on over 30 lakes accessible by road, all-terrain vehicle (ATV), or on foot. Boats and motors are stationed on the waters, and portable motors with backpacks are provided for remote lakes. Guests have access to guiding services, fish cleaning, as well as sonar and fishing kayak rentals. Hunting is organized around three areas: moose hunting on exclusive territories assigned per group, black bear hunting (archery or rifle) with guide accompaniment at baited sites, and small game hunting. The latter can be
practiced on foot (with or without a hunting dog), by ATV, or by vehicle along the forest trails. For vacations and family getaways, the outfitter provides a heated in-ground pool located at the main lodge on the shores of Lake Christina. Visitors can enjoy hiking, ATVing, canoeing, and kayaking. In August, wild berry and mushroom picking is also possible. Accommodation options include European plans or American plans with meal service in the dining room, on the veranda, or directly at the cabin.

C'est comme arriver à notre chalet, avec en plus des gens accueillants ! Très belle pourvoirie, avec de beaux chalets tous rénovés, des grandes chaloupes et moteurs flambants neufs qui partent à tout coups... L'essayer, c'est l'adopter ! Merci Sophie, Josée et Simon !!

Visité Septembre 2021 Pourvoirie très bien. Les chalet proche de l'accueil sont très bien et très propre. Beau choix de lac parmis un bon nombre. Qui offre la possibilité de pêcher le Doré, le Brochet, la truite grise et la truite moucheté. Mais pour cette dernière je vous conseille d'apporter un 4 roues pour pouvoir aller sur les lacs de moucheté. Personnelle très aimable, et la propriétaire et de très bon conseil. Elle connait très bien ses lacs.Vous en êtes a votre première visite, écouter ses conseil. Vous allez sauvée beaucoup de temps, surtout pour le doré. Pour monté vous aurez 98km de gravier a faire. Me ce fait relativement bien. Chemin large et relativement bien entretenu. Les chaloupes sont belles et les moteurs en excellente condition. Vous n'aurez pas à vous batte avec pour les faires démarrer et a les utiliser. Aussi ce qui est appréciéable ils fournissent des tanks a essence a branchement direct sur le moteur. Donc évite a avoir besoin de joué dans le gas pour remplir les moteurs.

Belle pourvoirie! Très beau plan d’eau, nous avons pêché une trentaine de dorés en quelques jours. Le guide de pêche, Alex, est passionné et super gentil! Nous avons moins apprécié le fait que notre chalet du pavillon central soit à une dizaine de minutes en voiture du quai où sont les bateaux. Également, nous avons trouvé le chalet petit. Pour un groupe de 7-8, il serait préférable de louer deux chalets.

De retour de 6 jours de pur bonheur, le personnel est très accueillant et professionnel, j’ai adoré le concept de réservation de lac à truite, la chaloupe et le moteur tous disponibles sur le site. Le chalet est tout compris, propre, il y a même une douche avec eau chaude à l’extérieur!!! j’ai séjourné au chalet Sophie sur l’île, merveilleux!!! Lac McLennan très bien balisé, ils ont mis des repères aux endroits dangereux, même ceux qui ne sont pas présents sur navionnics. Merci beaucoup à vous pour ce voyage mémorable!!!
