Hanson's King Island Lodge is a premier resort and fishing destination located on a 7-acre island in Sabaskong Bay on Lake of the Woods, Ontario. Founded in 1926 by Kendall Hanson and his brother Marion, this family-owned outfitter has been managed by the same family for over 90 years. The estate is characterized by a forest of century-old white, red, and jack pines overlooking the facilities in a natural and peaceful environment. visitors: an all-inclusive American Plan package, as well as a self-catering Housekeeping option. Lake of the Woods covers approximately 951,300 acres and boasts over 14,000 islands and 52,000 miles of shoreline. Sabaskong Bay offers numerous sheltered bays allowing for safe fishing regardless of wind conditions. The area is world-renowned for its muskellunge fishing, with regular catches measuring between 40 and 50 inches, and the presence of trophy specimens over 50 inches. The muskie fishing season begins on the third Saturday of June. The surrounding waters are also home to walleye, northern pike, smallmouth and largemouth bass, crappie, yellow perch, and lake sturgeon.
