per day, no catch-and-release. Summer: canoeing, swimming, wildlife watching (osprey, loons) and walking and interpretive trails all around the lake. Winter: snowshoeing, ice fishing, inner-tube sliding, cross-country skiing, skating, dog-sledding and snowmobiling nearby.

Its story

The Kan-à-Mouche outfitting lodge is the oldest outfitting operation in the Saint-Michel-des-Saints region of Lanaudière. Founded in 1945 by Carmelle Daury on the shores of Lac Carmel, the property traces its origins to its creator’s passion for hunting and fishing. Originally from the village of Champlain near Trois-Rivières, Carmelle Daury first discovered the region at the age of 15 in the early 1900s. After marrying Wendel Daury, a musical arranger for the famous Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, and spending a brief period in the United States, she returned to Quebec in 1938 following her husband’s death. Drawn by the forest, she

devoted much of her life to running this private five-star club. Over the decades, the lodge has welcomed prominent personalities from the political and artistic elite of North America, including the Kennedy family, the Duplessis family, Marilyn Monroe, Bing Crosby and Bob Hope. The estate has also served as a filming location for television and film productions such as « La Rivière des Jérémie », « L’invité » and the series « Trauma ». In 1974, Italian count Ferretti di Castelferretto flew over the territory, fell in love with the site, and became the second owner. In the late 1980s, his daughter Léonora took over alongside biologist Gilles Desjardins. Once reserved for a very select circle, the outfitting lodge has since opened its doors to nature lovers and people who enjoy the great outdoors, while preserving its historical character with round timber and its warm hospitality.
