This was our first visit to Pine Cliff Lodge. Despite challenging weather, with several days of record temperatures, high winds, and wildfire smoke, we had great catches every day. Our group had a wide range of experience levels, but every one of us caught several northern pike over 76 cm (up to 88 cm) and at least one nice smallmouth bass (up to 50 cm). The abundance of medium-sized pike in some weed beds was impressive, and it was a real blast fighting them with bass tackle. The few walleye caught every now and then were a nice bonus. Our boat comfortably accommodated three adult anglers with no less than fourteen fishing rods. Derek and Kara, the owners, were incredibly responsive and welcoming. When the slow cooker we brought to prepare most of our meals broke on the first day, they even lent us one from their own kitchen. Big thanks to them! Their hospitality greatly contributed to the success of our stay.

Our stay at Pine Cliff Lodge exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we arrived, it was obvious that this place was exceptional. The owners welcomed us like family from day one. Our stay at Pine Cliff Lodge on Big Sandy Lake was outstanding from start to finish. One of best things of the trip was having access to such a large, premier fishing lake with so few people on it. The opportunity to enjoy world-class fishing without crowds made the trip feel truly special. The South Lake cabins were a perfect complement to the fishing experience. Their secluded location gave our group a private part of the lake to ourselves. The cabins were clean, comfortable, with beautiful views of the water. It was great to relax on the porch with a drink while overlooking the bay after fishing all day. The boats were in excellent condition and equipped with everything we needed for a productive day on the water. The trolling motors and depth finders were particularly valuable, allowing us to stay on productive fishing spots. Having reliable, well-equipped boats made it easy to focus on fishing rather than thinking about equipment. One highlight of the trip was the outstanding guide service provided by Cody and Derek. Their knowledge of Big Sandy Lake was encyclopedic. They knew exactly which areas to fish for each species, which lures would perform best under the day’s conditions, and which techniques would maximize success. They were consistently cheerful, personable, and patient with every member of our group, regardless of experience level. We all were able to hang into truly monstrous fish, which makes for lifetime memories.
