Over time, this establishment has developed around two of the region's iconic sectors: the main site located at the foot of the Gouin Dam and the remote island of the Magnan sector, accessible 53 km further up. Now under new ownership by Carole and Jean Bordeleau, the outfitter continues its tradition of hospitality, focusing on courtesy and quality service for hunters, anglers, snowmobilers, and vacationers.
Pourvoirie du Barrage Gouin et du Magnan is located in Northern Quebec, north of La Tuque, in the heart of the Haute-Mauricie region. The territory is organized around two main sectors. The main site, the Barrage Gouin sector, is established at the foot of the dam. The Magnan sector is located 53 km further north on an isolated island bordered by fine sand beaches. The hydrographic network includes the Gouin Reservoir with its 1,789 km² of water, the Saint-Maurice River, and three private lakes: Lac Castor Blanc, Lac Fouille Roche, and Lac Caché. The outfitter also includes a 100 km²
hunting territory. Road access is via marked forest roads. Distances are 190 km from La Tuque (2.5 hours), 180 km from Lac-Saint-Jean (2.5 hours), 300 km from Mont-Laurier (4 hours), 420 km from Quebec City (5.5 hours), and 480 km from Montreal (5.5 hours). In winter, the road is plowed as far as Barrage Gouin. To reach the Magnan sector during the summer season, a 53-km shuttle is provided by a 26-foot enclosed water taxi (450 hp) from the dam. The site features aviation facilities: a dirt runway for wheeled planes, a seaplane base, and a helipad, with 100LL and Jet A fuel available. The outfitter is also accessible by snowmobile via Trans-Québec trail 83 at Haltaparche (between Parent and Wemotaci) connected by a 47-km marked trail, as well as by ATV, side-by-side, and dual-purpose motorcycle.
