Dam GPS coordinates: N48 21.175 / W74 06.134. The Magnan sector, 53 km farther up, is reached from the dam by boat-taxi (a 26-foot enclosed, 450-hp boat); coordinates N48 36.000 / W74 36.692.

The Barrage Gouin sector, at the foot of the dam, is the center of the action: boat fishing on the reservoir (walleye and pike), brook-trout fishing on three private lakes (Lac Castor Blanc, Lac Fouille Roche and Lac Caché), bear and small-game hunting on a 100 km² territory, and snowmobile and ATV trails.
