Founded in the 1970s and once accessible only by floatplane, the outfitter has been run since 2012 by Sylvain, an experienced fishing guide, in partnership with the Cree community of Waswanipi.
Pourvoirie Aventure Lac Goéland traces its origins back to the 1970s. At that time, the establishment was only accessible by floatplane, reserving its vast Northern Quebec territory for a clientele of seasoned anglers and hunters. The year 2000 marked a major turning point in the site's history with its acquisition by the Cree Nation. In 2012, to establish a partnership with the community of Waswanipi, the Nation approached Sylvain, an experienced guide working on Lac Goéland, to take the helm of the business. Under Sylvain's leadership, the outfitter initiated a major relaunch of its operations. This project resulted in significant
renovation work as well as the construction of five new cabins, aimed at offering an authentic, safe, and accessible northern stay in the Eeyou Istchee Baie-James region, near Matagami.

Pourvoirie Aventure Lac Goéland offers activities centered on fishing, hunting, and northern vacationing during its operating season from late May to early September. The main activity is walleye and pike fishing, offered in basic packages for durations of three days or more, catering to groups of 2 to 8 people. Visitors can explore the lake's bays and rivers by renting an 18.5-foot boat on-site, equipped with a 50 hp motor, comfortable seats, a stable floor, and a bilge pump. Guests are also permitted to bring their own boat, provided it meets the minimum equipment requirements: at least 17 feet in
length, a motor of at least 50 hp, a sonar, and a GPS. As a complementary option to the fishing package, the outfitter offers black bear hunting. This quota-based activity is limited to ten spots annually and can be conducted using various methods: bow, crossbow, rifle, or shotgun. For vacationers, the site features six cabins that can accommodate 4 to 8 people for stays of at least three nights. Dogs and pets are allowed under certain conditions. Si tu cherche un endroit où peux tu peux faire tes quotas de pêche au doré , c'est la place qu'il te faut ! 🎣 Petit chalet rustique avec chauffage au propane, il n'y a pas de douche dans les chalet mais il y a des douches commune avec eau chaude. Nous y sommes rester quelques jours ( 2 adulte et 2 jeunes enfant ) et avons été super bien accueilli et servi ❤️ Moi et mon conjoint avons aussi pris nos plus gros brochet jusqu'à maintenant sur ce lac 😊 Nous avions pris le forfait chalet avec location d'une chaloupe a moteur.
