Road access northwest of La Tuque, in the Haute-Mauricie, along the St-Maurice River. The outfitter stresses: follow its directions, do not rely on Google Maps or GPS. From Route 155, take the first exit for La Tuque, join rue Bostonnais, then after the Harnois Énergies station (last fuel stop) turn left toward La Croche / Parent / Route 25 (Ro-461) / the Hydro-Québec generating station. After the CN Fitzpatrick rail yard, turn left onto Route 25/Ro-461 to km 60, then right onto the chemin de la Centrale Rapides-des-Cœurs. After the railway (km 29) turn left, cross the bridge to km 44; after a second bridge, about 1 km farther turn right and follow the Pourvoirie Windigo signs for the final 12.2 km.

Established in 1967, Pourvoirie Windigo is a small family outfitter northwest of La Tuque, in the Haute-Mauricie, set along the St-Maurice River near the mouth of the Windigo River that gives it its name. In zone 26, it is known for walleye and pike fishing (from the Patriots' Day weekend in May to Thanksgiving in October), with a boat, 4-stroke motor and first tank of gas included in every package. Spring adds black bear hunting (June 1-30, guided, over baited sites), followed by small-game hunting — ruffed grouse, spruce grouse and hare — on foot, by ATV or by truck.
In winter, 12 km from the Trans-Québec 83 trail, the outfitter becomes a crossroads for snowmobilers and also welcomes self-guided snowshoers and backcountry skiers. Lodging comes as chalets, camps and inn rooms, all on the bank of the St-Maurice River, on a European plan or an American plan (with meals). Facilities include a bar with a pool table, a cold room, freezers, WiFi and a telephone, plus on-site sale of bait, ice and licences. Pourvoirie Windigo has been established since 1967 northwest of La Tuque, in the Haute-Mauricie region. Situated on the banks of the Saint-Maurice River, it takes its name from its proximity to the mouth of the Windigo River. In 2005, the establishment reached a significant turning point when it was acquired by Daniel and Martine. Already familiar with the sector and passionate about hunting, fishing, and the outdoors, the new owners chose to settle there and live on-site year-round. Driven by a desire to evolve the site, they have undertaken efforts over the years to improve the quality of the infrastructure
and activities, transforming the location to offer a clean, comfortable, and safe setting for families and groups of friends. The outfitter's recent history is rooted in providing attentive hospitality and diverse vacation experiences throughout the seasons, including accommodation in cottages, camps, and an inn with a bar and dining room. Located in fishing zone 26, the territory lies in the heart of a boreal forest characterized by a variety of natural habitats crisscrossed by numerous roads and trails. The aquatic environment of the St. Maurice River primarily hosts walleye and northern pike populations, providing an ideal environment for sport fishing from spring to autumn. On land, the local wildlife is notable for an abundant black bear population, which is managed through controlled harvesting to preserve the resource. The
forested areas are also home to various small game species, including ruffed grouse (commonly known as partridge), spruce grouse, and snowshoe hare. Furthermore, the surrounding boreal forest features wild vegetation perfect for seasonal berry and mushroom picking.
Pourvoirie Windigo offers fishing, hunting, and outdoor activities year-round. Walleye and pike fishing runs from the May long weekend through the October long weekend. Stays are available under European, American, or family plans, including a 15-foot boat with a 15-hp motor, the first tank of gas, a water depth map, and fishing tips. In June, black bear hunting is practiced with rifle, bow, crossbow, or black powder. Packages include guide services, access to baited sites and tree stands, on-site transportation, as well as skinning and cold room or freezer storage. From September 20 to the end of October, small game
hunting targets ruffed grouse, spruce grouse, and hare, accessible by foot, ATV, or truck. It is possible to combine small game hunting and fishing until Thanksgiving. In winter, from January to March, the outfitter serves as a meeting point for snowmobilers thanks to a local trail connected to the Trans-Québec 83 trail, providing access to both federated and off-trail networks. Independent snowshoeing and cross-country skiing are also available. During the summer, the site offers hiking, ATVing, berry and mushroom picking, canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and pedal boating, notably during the annual 15 km descent of the Windigo River.
