Good to know
The only outfitter located on the Dozois Reservoir within the La Vérendrye Wildlife Reserve, Dorval Lodge offers self-guided fishing trips from May 15 to September 15. Owned by Louis L’Écuyer and Nancy Labelle since 2004, the estate offers attentive service and 27 European-plan cabins, accommodating 1 to 24 people with 24-hour electricity, running water, and fully equipped kitchens. Specializing in walleye and northern pike fishing, the team shares expert advice for exploring the waters. Rental of equipped motorboats and pontoons allows for peaceful navigation.
In 2004, Louis L’Écuyer and Nancy Labelle made a decision that changed their lives. They took over Dorval Lodge. Not to build an empire. To build a place people come back to. And that’s exactly what happens. More than 20 years later, the same families, the same groups of friends take Route 117 every season. Some book their week a year in advance. Others call Louis in January to find out how the ice is forming. It’s that kind of relationship. Because here, service isn’t a marketing buzzword. It’s a way of doing things. Louis knows the Dozois Reservoir like
very few people do. He knows where the walleye hang out, where the pike becomes active, and where it stays protected when the wind comes from the northwest. And he shares all of that. Not in a brochure—in person, in the morning, when you’re getting ready for your day.
Nestled in the heart of the La Vérendrye Wildlife Reserve, the site is strategically located along the shores of Dozois Reservoir. This vast body of water covers 325 km² and features 4,000 km of shoreline. The territory also provides access to the Outaouais River, as well as several natural lakes. Dorval Lodge stands out for its easy accessibility: located directly along Route 117 at kilometre 397, access is entirely by paved road, with no gravel road. The outfitter is 3 hours from Gatineau and 4 hours from Montréal.
