Good to know
Located in Saint-Zénon in the heart of Lanaudière, Pourvoirie Trudeau is a family waterfront cabin-rental destination whose roots go back to 1892 (Matawin Fishing Club); it was opened to everyone in 1973 under Mr. Lucien Trudeau and then acquired by the Auger brothers in 1999. It has 36 fully equipped private cabins, each with its own lake view and private dock. The territory holds 27 natural lakes across more than 52 km², some thirty kilometres of trails and about ten waterfront campsites. People come above all for brook trout and rainbow trout fishing (day-fishing package at $75/adult, or with lodging),
family relaxation, swimming, hiking, kayaking and pedal boating. The outfitter also offers waterfront camping (tent and RV), a petting farm, as well as moose, bear and small-game hunting in zone 15 East. The cabins are self-catering (full kitchen, propane BBQ, wood stove) and pets are allowed for an extra fee.
The history of Pourvoirie Trudeau dates back to 1892 with the creation of the Matawin Fishing Club. This private territory remained an exclusive club for several decades. It was in 1973 that the site became accessible to the public under the direction of Mr. Lucien Trudeau, after whom it is proudly named. A major turning point occurred in 1999 when the Auger brothers took over the establishment located in Saint-Zénon, in the Lanaudière region. The new owners undertook significant development and modernization projects. Their project included the construction of 20 additional cottages, the development of new roads facilitating access to
the lakes and wilderness, as well as the creation of waterfront camping sites and family activities. These efforts earned the outfitter four Grands Prix du Tourisme québécois awards, including the Gold National Winner in the Accommodation – Outfitter category in 2002. Today, the estate spans 52 square kilometres and includes 27 lakes. The outfitter offers a lodging fleet of 36 cottages, ranging from ancestral buildings dating back to the late 19th century to more recent constructions.
Territory of 52 km² featuring 27 natural lakes, thirty kilometres of trails, and waterfront camping areas.
Pourvoirie Trudeau is established on a 52-square-kilometre pristine wilderness territory located in Saint-Zénon, within hunting zone 15 East of the Lanaudière region. This vast natural estate features 27 lakes surrounded by mixed forests of maple, birch, and majestic pine. The landscape is characterized by valleys, mountains, and remarkable peaks such as Mont-Chauve, offering breathtaking panoramas and diverse aquatic environments. The hydrographic network includes several fish-rich bodies of water such as Lac Crépeau, Baie Daniel, Lac Bouchette, Lac Jobin, Lac Marcellin, Lac Chapelet, Lac Nick, Lac Trosby, and Lac Grand Canard. These cold, well-oxygenated lakes provide ideal habitats for aquatic wildlife,
primarily brook trout (speckled trout) and rainbow trout, which are a delight for anglers. Certain lakes on the estate are also stocked to maintain high-quality fishing. Regarding terrestrial and avian fauna, the territory hosts a great diversity of game and wild species. Big game is represented by moose and black bear. Small game includes ruffed grouse (partridge) and snowshoe hare, which frequent the undergrowth and forest trails. Wildlife viewing also offers the chance to spot aquatic species and birds of prey, such as otters and bald eagles, in their natural environment.
Pourvoirie Trudeau offers a range of four-season activities focused on fishing, hunting, and family vacations. During the summer season, fishing for brook and rainbow trout is done by rowboat, pontoon, or from private docks. An on-site shop provides equipment, licenses, lures, and guiding services. Vacationers can enjoy swimming at the beach, kayaking, classic or turbo pedal boating, and pontoon cruises. Hiking enthusiasts can take trails leading to observation points and the Mont-Chauve lookout. The territory is perfect for photo safaris, bird watching, berry picking, and picnicking. For families, the site features playground modules for children and a mini-farm with goats,
chickens, and rabbits. The estate also offers waterfront wilderness camping and RV sites. Hunting takes place on dedicated territories for moose in the fall, black bear in the spring at baited sites, as well as small game (partridge and hare). In winter, the outfitter transforms to host ice fishing on frozen lakes, snowshoeing, backcountry cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling, with direct access to marked trails. Nearby, visitors can find downhill skiing at Val St-Côme, tubing and golf in St-Jean-de-Matha, dog sledding in St-Michel-des-Saints, and hiking at Parc régional des Sept-Chutes.

On a adoré 😃
