Discover Club Trout Lake

The outfitter

Club Trout Lake (Pourvoirie Lac la Truite) sits on a structured 438 km² exclusive-rights wildlife territory at Belleterre in Abitibi-Témiscamingue (zone 13), 37 km east of the village by forestry road. Bordered to the east by the La Vérendrye Wildlife Reserve and to the south by the Kipawa ZEC, the territory lies between the boreal forest of northern Quebec and the mixed forest of the Ottawa valley, making it a remarkably diverse wildlife habitat. Managed by limiting client numbers for more than 40 years, it offers exceptional-quality fishing for walleye, lake trout (grey trout) and northern pike, reserved to lodging

guests, on Trout, Winnawiash and Bay lakes. Moose hunting is outstanding: a herd estimated at about 188 moose, one of the highest quotas allotted to an exclusive-rights outfitter, an early five-week season and exclusive territory per party (one moose per two hunters; bull, cow or calf every year). Black bear hunting, with a 93% success rate advertised, takes place over baited sites across roughly 1,000 km² thanks to an agreement with the neighbouring Kipawa ZEC. Lodging is in cabins spread across the whole territory — some with exclusive fishing rights on their lake — based out of the Auberge Lac la Truite on Trout Lake, on an American or European meal plan. Fishing packages are also offered at Ross Lake (Kipawa ZEC) and, in May-June, in the La Vérendrye reserve (lodging on Old Man Lake), with family holiday packages in July-August and a quad-and-fishing combo package. On-site services: gas station, boat and motor rental, territory maps, hunting and fishing licences, guides available, and internet at the main lodge.
