From the north (New Liskeard/Val-d'Or): via Louvicourt, turn left onto the Chimo road at km 471, follow ~1.5 h to km 143. Do not rely on Google Maps (bridges out).

Lac Camachigama, a remote 26 km² lake that is part of the greater Camachigama river waterway, is long known as one of Quebec's premiere walleye fisheries: trophy yellow and blue walleye, sauger, northern pike and even lake sturgeon reproduce continuously here. The main camp sits on a central island, Grosse Île (Big Island), where 12 cabins offer electricity, hot and cold running water, shower, wood-burning stove and refrigerator. A short 15-minute barge ride
from the landing brings you to the centre of the lake. The outfitter also offers moose hunting — self-guided or guided — from 7 upgraded outpost camps, each with an exclusive 15-to-20 km² territory, plus guided black bear hunting at the sister property on Lac Mer Bleue. Lodging is in fully equipped cabins (European plan). Access is by road to the landing, then by barge to the island camps.
Lake Camachigama is part of a long tradition of welcoming hunting and fishing enthusiasts from around the world. Its history began in the 1950s, when the Premier of Quebec at the time, Maurice Duplessis, had the first log fishing camps built on Grosse Île ("Big Island"). These original buildings still stand today. Over the following decades, the outfitter expanded with the construction of a main lodge and additional cottages to accommodate clients. At that time, access to this remote location was strictly by air. The evolution of the territory was later marked by the expansion of logging roads in the
Abitibi-Témiscamingue region. The development of these roads now allows visitors to drive directly to the main landing. From there, a barge transports travelers and their gear to the island camps, eliminating the weight constraints and weather hazards formerly associated with air travel. Now part of the Eastern Canadian Outfitters offering, the outfitter has modernized its facilities while preserving its heritage. The camps now benefit from electricity, hot and cold running water, Wi-Fi at the main lodge, and recent nautical equipment, ensuring modern comfort in the heart of a natural environment that remains untouched.
Located in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region, Le Pourvoyeur de l'Est Canadien - Camachigama outfitter covers more than 230 square kilometres of rugged wilderness. The heart of the territory is centred on Lac Camachigama and Grosse Île (“Big Island”), where the accommodations camps are located. Historically accessible only by air in the 1950s, the outfitter now benefits from the development of the forest road network. Visitors can now travel by vehicle right up to the main dock. From this access point, a barge takes over to transport passengers and all of their equipment to the island camps. This mode of transport avoids
the weight restrictions and the weather uncertainties often associated with access by seaplane, while still preserving the secluded atmosphere of a vast natural territory.
The outfitter operates a vast wilderness territory of over 230 square kilometers, located primarily in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region. The estate includes Lake Camachigama, a 26-square-kilometer wild body of water that is part of the Camachigama River watershed, as well as Lake Mer Bleue, which measures 5 kilometers by 2 kilometers and reaches depths of nearly 300 feet. The aquatic habitat varies between sandy bays, submerged vegetation beds, islands, and rocky shoals. In the forest, the landscape consists of rolling hills, mature woodlands, hardwood ridges, watershed marshes, thinned logging areas, and winter deer yards. For fishing, the waters host walleye, blue walleye, sauger, northern pike, lake sturgeon, smallmouth and largemouth bass, lake trout, whitefish, and various rock fish. Regarding game, the territory supports Quebec moose, black bear (with average sizes ranging from 180 to 200 pounds in the spring and 250 to 300 pounds in the fall, with specimens reaching 350 pounds), and white-tailed deer. Small game such as ruffed grouse, snowshoe hare, and migrating woodcock are also found, along with wild turkey available at their Ontario sites.
Eastern Canadian Outfitters offers a wide range of outdoor activities for hunting and fishing enthusiasts as well as families. Fishing is practiced on various lakes, with access to motorized boats to target walleye, northern pike, lake sturgeon, bass, lake trout, and whitefish. Families and children can also fish directly from the docks or shores of Lake Mer Bleue and Lake Lacroix. Hunting activities cover several species of big and small game. Moose hunting is offered in guided, semi-guided, or self-guided packages on exclusive territories of 15 to 30 square kilometers equipped with watchtowers and salt licks. Black bear hunting is
