Pourvoirie Monts-Valin du Archer occupies a 52 km² exclusive-rights hunting and fishing territory at the entrance to the Zec Martin-Valin, in Saint-Fulgence, in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region. Perched at 620 metres of elevation, one of the highest points in the area, the territory reveals lakes as far as the eye can see and diverse wildlife. It holds 42 native brook-trout (speckled trout) lakes, said to be part of the Croissant Vermeil, the largest pure native-trout spawning area in Quebec, plus two lightly fished rivers. Here you can fish (American or European plan), hunt moose over two exclusive baited zones of 25
km² per party, and hunt black bear over baited sites. In summer a family package gives access to swimming, pedal boats, kayaks and paddleboards; in winter a guided off-trail snowmobile package is available by reservation. Lodging is in rustic round-log camps with old-time charm, with an on-site restaurant and a warm welcome from owners Jonathan, Josianne and Bernard.
The history of Pourvoirie Monts-Valin du Archer dates back to the early 1960s. Since its creation, the territory has seen five successive administrations. The first owners were Léo Rochette and his son Armand, from the Club Hygienic de Cuisines Rochette in Quebec City. For about ten years, they built the very first cabins on the site, which was then only accessible by bush plane. From 1972 to 1995, brothers Raymond and Albert Picard, originally from Chicoutimi, took over the torch for nearly twenty-five years. At that time, the absence of roads until the early 1980s still required access by air.
These builders expanded the accommodation offering and developed the outfitter, leaving their names to Lake Raymond and Lake Albert. It was at Lake Albert that a six-pound trout was caught in 1980 under the supervision of Abel Simard. In 1995, Pierre Picard officially took over from his father Raymond, whose activities he had already been managing since 1992. He continued the development of the estate and its clientele for a decade, marking the territory with Lake Pierre. In 2003, Pierre Martin became the owner and continued to grow the business. Finally, in 2008, Jonathan Perreault along with Josianne and Bernard St-Louis realized their dream by taking over the management of the outfitter. They preserve the original rustic charm while providing contemporary comfort.

Pourvoirie Monts-Valin du Archer is located on a game-rich territory with exclusive hunting and fishing rights spanning 52 square kilometers. Reaching an altitude of 620 meters, this estate is among the highest in the Monts-Valin sector, offering a mountainous landscape with lakes stretching as far as the eye can see and a natural environment home to diverse wildlife. The aquatic network includes 42 lakes listed by the Ministry of Natural Resources, as well as two newly accessible, under-exploited rivers. These bodies of water are an integral part of the "Croissant Vermeil," recognized as the largest natural breeding site for pure
indigenous trout in Quebec. Hydrological conditions are optimal for native brook trout (speckled trout): latitude, altitude, and the presence of bottom currents keep the lake waters particularly cold throughout the season. Several clear-water lakes, such as Lake Long Shot, Lake Albert, Lake Raymond, and Lake Pierre, constitute the preferred habitat for these fish. Regarding land wildlife, the territory hosts significant populations of moose and black bears. Wildlife management for moose includes two specially developed and baited exclusive zones, granting a 25-square-kilometer sector per hunting group. Targeted baiting sites are also maintained to ensure a regular black bear presence on the estate.
Pourvoirie Monts-Valin du Archer offers a wide range of activities focused on hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, and family outdoor fun throughout the year. Fishing for native brook trout is practiced on 42 lakes and two rivers, suitable for both beginners and experienced anglers. Packages include the provision of boats with gas or electric motors, as well as an evisceration and vacuum-packing service for catches. During winter, ice fishing takes over on the frozen waters. Sport hunting activities target moose and black bear. For these stays, the outfitter provides exclusive territories, watchtowers, baiting sites, and boats, with the possibility of using blood
dog services. In the winter season, the Monts-Valin sector becomes a playground for snowmobile enthusiasts. J'y suis allé avec ma copine pendant quelques jours au début de l'été 2025. Superbe endroit et Jonathan et sa famille ont été très accueillants. On s'est senti comme chez nous. Nous n'avons manqué de rien et nous avons pogné de très belles truites. Nous allons y retourner l'année prochaine c'est certain ! Merci encore !

Une superbe Pourvoirie comme on les voudrait tous! J’y suis allé (4-5 ans de suite ) au début de l’acquisition de Jonathan et sa conjointe, on avait toujours un service A1. Je suis retourné cette année avec la famille et les parents, c’est encore plus incroyable!!! Belle pêche bcp trop de fun!
